Pigmented lesions are caused when the Melanin in the skin is abnormally concentrated in one area. This may be due to several factors, including overexposure to ultraviolet rays from the sun or other reasons which are age or birth-related. With technologically advanced lasers, pigmented lesions can be absorbed by specialised light and destroyed, without damaging any pigmentation in the surrounding normal skin.
